Shameless

Have you ever felt the weight of the world on your shoulders or taken on a difficult task that wasn’t really meant for you? If so, you can imagine yourself in Fiona’s shoes on Shameless.

The eldest daughter of Frank Gallagher, a drunk and worthless parent, Fiona has to hold down the house, donning the proverbial apron and making sure her younger siblings do their chores, keep a clean(ish) house and stay fed. Fiona, in a difficult position being the eldest of the Gallagher children, takes the responsibility of child-rearing which often results in humorous outcomes.

Like in episode 4, the middle Gallagher child Debbie, after becoming depressed with her Aunt's passing, decides to steal a toddler from a birthday party. Fiona and the rest of the siblings devise a plan to return the boy to his family while going unnoticed by the increased police presence in the area. Crazy situation for a bunch of kids to deal with, right?

And while it’s just a TV show, I can relate a little to her overwhelming responsibility. While I was never the caretaker of 5 siblings, I am the one who has the responsibility of keeping our bills paid and food on the table. The difference is that it really is my job as a mom. I can’t imagine having that responsibility thrust upon you as a kid.

If you haven’t had the chance to catch up on Shameless, you can with the entire first season on DVD or Blu-Ray.

I have been hired by Warner Bros. WBWord division to promote Shameless Season One on DVD.
